We’ve all seen the headlines: it’s the summer of the road trip. We’re taking it a step further and claiming that it’s the year of the RV. And you don’t have to go far to find stats to back that up. Read on for 15 jaw-dropping statistics that show just how much RVing is having a moment.
1. 46 million Americans plan to take an RV trip in the next 12 months. Source
2. One in four survey respondents plan to take some RV-related action in the next 12 months (either taking a trip, renting an RV, purchasing an RV, researching an RV purchase or visiting a dealership). Source
3. In June, RV-related stocks—including Jayco holding company, Thor, and Camping World—jumped by triple-digit percentages. Source
4. The U.S. Travel Association reports that 68% of people feel safe traveling in a personal vehicle but only 18% feel safe taking a domestic flight. Source
5. Parks are at the top of the list of perceived “safe” activities—second only to traveling in a car and higher than rental homes and hotels, grocery stores, outdoor concerts, bars and restaurants and more. Source
6. 47% of leisure travelers who camp say they will replace cancelled or postponed trips with camping trips. Source
