Jamie Link: A Jayco Family of Companies Pathfinder Embracing the RV Lifestyle

A Home on Wheels for Every Adventure

For Jamie Link, traveling has always been about the thrill of discovery, but having the perfect travel companion—both in their Jayco Comet 18C Class B Van and their beloved dogs—has made the journey even more exciting. Since January 2024, Jamie and her husband Rick have been embracing the freedom of the open road with their Class B Van, covering over 15,000 miles across 16 states in their first year alone. Their Comet has provided a comfortable, flexible, and convenient way to explore, making every trip feel like a new adventure.

Traveling with Four-Legged Companions

One of the biggest perks of RV life for Jamie has been the ability to travel seamlessly with their dogs. Before owning the Comet, road trips required hotel stays that limited their options and required extra planning. Now, whether they're heading to a new hiking trail, competing in dock diving competitions, or simply exploring a new town, their van allows them to bring their pets along without hassle. Griffin, one of their dogs, is a sport dog ranked 6th in the country for dock diving, and the RV makes it easy to attend competitions up and down the East Coast while keeping Griffin comfortable and ready to perform.

Embracing the Weekend Warrior Lifestyle

Jamie and her husband Rick have fully embraced the weekend warrior mindset. With busy work schedules, they maximize their travel time by hitting the road on Thursday nights and packing their weekends with adventure before returning home by Monday morning. Their Jayco Comet has made it easy to visit new cities, national parks, and state parks, often staying at wineries and breweries thanks to their Harvest Hosts membership. From kayaking in Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida, to witnessing the breathtaking total solar eclipse in upstate New York, their van has allowed them to chase unforgettable moments without the constraints of traditional travel planning.

The Freedom to Explore Spontaneously

While Jamie once meticulously planned each trip, owning a van has shifted their perspective. Now, they embrace the excitement of the unknown, often making last-minute stops at state parks or small towns along their route. The ability to be flexible and adjust their plans on the go has led to some of their most memorable experiences. Their travel style prioritizes seeing as much as possible in a short amount of time, making the most of every journey.

Road Trip Games and Unforgettable Memories

Some of the most fun moments on the road happen unexpectedly. On a long drive to the Dock Diving Nationals in Missouri, Jamie and her husband entertained themselves with road trip BINGO, searching for everything from wind turbines to a UPS driver. The friendly competition turned a lengthy drive into a highlight of the trip, proving that sometimes, the journey is just as fun as the destination.

Learning from the RV Community

One of the most surprising and rewarding aspects of RV life has been connecting with other RVers. The RV community has welcomed Jamie with open arms, offering valuable tips, shared experiences, and lifelong friendships. Whether at Jayco rallies or meeting fellow van travelers on the road, these connections have enhanced their travels and deepened their appreciation for the lifestyle.

Advice for Aspiring RVers

Jamie has learned a lot during their first year of RVing, including what they truly need (and don’t need) in their van. Their biggest piece of advice? Start simple. Many of the gadgets and kitchen appliances they initially packed went unused, while everyday essentials like paper plates and a reliable microwave became the real MVPs. They also recommend taking a short “shakedown” trip close to home to get familiar with the RV before embarking on longer adventures.

Looking Ahead: New Destinations on the Horizon

With a love for discovery, Jamie has their sights set on traveling out west in the next few years, hoping to visit Zion, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Parks. Their lifestyle has made it possible to see more places than ever before, and they can’t wait to continue making memories on the road.

From dock diving competitions to impromptu hikes, Jamie’s Jayco Comet has become more than just a vehicle—it’s a gateway to a life of adventure, spontaneity, and endless possibilities.
