Danny & Lynn Spain – RV America: A Jayco RV Pathfinder Embracing the RV Lifestyle

“Just do it. Where you are in a tent or a motorhome, just do it. You may regret not taking the leap, but you will never regret having the adventure.”

Danny and Lynn both retired in the spring of 2021. On that last day of work, the RV was packed and they were ready to hit the road! While they had full-time jobs, RVing was a luxury for the days off. Retiring was opening the door to any trip they desired. They currently have RV’d in 39 states.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

RVing gives you freedom that doesn’t compare to anything else. Staying in a campground is so different than staying in a hotel. You seldom have conversations or get to know other hotel guests. Whereas, when you are in an RV you are part of a huge community. No one is really a stranger. The amount of friends that you will meet on the road is completely in your hands of how social you want to be! A quick hello to your neighbors often results in being around the campfire all night. And the best part? You can safely bring along your pets.

A Love for the Outdoors

For plenty of RVers, connecting to nature is one of the biggest perks of being on the road. Danny and Lynn’s love for hiking, taking them to a number of National and State Parks. Really, anywhere that has a trail. They prefer wood over cities. Their first big RV goal is to visit all 50 states. Every year, they gain a few! Their second goal is to visit every National Park.

Two summers ago, RV America visited Glacier National Park. In an effort to explore as much as they could, they booked at a campground for a full month. They never could have done that if they were in a hotel! Two years later, it still is the most amazing place they have ever visited. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan was an unexpected wonderful trip as well, with amazing waterfalls and hiking.

No Strings Attached

Danny and Lynn like to travel the distance and explore everything that they can find when they reach their destination. RVing is about staying out long and going to more places, not having any time limits. Staying a while in one location really allows you to get to know an area. You have plenty of time to see everything you hope to.

RVing is Full of Surprises and Good Laughs

The most surprising thing for Danny and Lynn since full-time RVing, has been the ability to visit family and friends that they otherwise would never have taken the time to visit - people all over the country.

This past fall, RV America went down to Dauphin Island, Alabama to camp. They ended up locking themselves out of their RV during setup… luckily, the driver’s window was unlocked.  They had to move the picnic table so they could stand on it. Then, Danny basically threw Lynn through the window! She had to take a breather to gain control from laughing so hard. The memories that come from camping are truly untouched.

Don’t Rush It

RVing doesn’t have to be a stressful hassle, constantly on the go. Go at your own pace, whether that be 8 hours of driving a day or only 3. Get to an area, take the time to setup how you want it and start exploring what’s around you. Rest spots along the journey can be great areas for lunches and breaks from travels. Ask the locals about restaurant recommendations for nicer evening meals and enjoy exploring downtown areas of small towns.
