I am the mom of three young boys – a soon-to-be 7-year-old, a 3 ½-year-old and an almost 9-month-old. After years of borrowing my in-laws camper (a couples coach that became increasingly more crowded as our family got bigger), my husband and I decided it was time to get a camper of our own. We knew we wanted camping to be a part of the memories our family is going to make. So, in March of 2015, we became the proud owners of a 2015 32BHDS Jay Flight. We are in love!
There are so many reasons why we love our camper as well as camping in general. My husband is one of those people who has a hard time just relaxing, so at home on the weekends, he can often be found working at his shop. One of my favorite things about camping is that it allows our family to escape the everyday life for an entire weekend, if not longer. When we are camping, my husband can’t leave and go to work. I don’t have to worry about laundry. The camper is smaller than our house so I have way less space that I have to keep straightened up. We get to enjoy the time just being together as a family and focus solely on spending time with one another.
A lot of our friends and family own campers as well, so we are able to spend time camping with those we don’t get to see very often due to everyone’s busy schedules. Our kids get to play with their friends and cousins while the adults get the opportunity to catch up as well. The kids run around and ride bikes, which gets them a lot of fresh air and exercise. Everyone is relaxed and having fun. So many memories have been made sitting around a bonfire. And these are things you just can’t do as well if you take a trip that requires a hotel stay.
There are also endless reasons why we love our Jayco camper. One of the main reasons we chose this particular floorplan is because of its versatility. Our oldest son has special needs and is therefore not a very good sleeper. When he wakes up in the middle of the night or super early in the morning, we are able to remove him from the bunk room and shut the door so the other boys can sleep. We then have the ability to set up a bed for him in the living area on either the dinette or the pullout couch. The rest of us are still able to get some more sleep until it becomes a more reasonable hour for the rest of the world to be awake. We love the outdoor kitchen as well. We do almost all of our cooking out there. It makes it easier to keep the inside of the camper clean when you don’t have to do all of the cooking inside.
I could go on and on about why we love camping and our camper. But the overriding reason we joined this lifestyle is because it allows us to spend quality time with our family having fun and making memories that we will cherish forever. There aren’t the distractions of the everyday life like there is at home. My husband and I fell in love with camping because his parents started doing it first and introduced it to us. I am positive that my boys will camp when they get older and have families of their own. This type of family fun is something that can be passed down from generation to generation. And the memories that come along with it are irreplaceable.
