Top Trends in RV Exteriors

We are constantly working to improve our RVs inside and out. Here, we’ll focus on some of the exterior features that are hot right now, and the newest designs and concepts that have the industry and customers buzzing.

LED lighting

LED lights not only brighten up a campsite, but also make for an eye-catching look. Adding lighting to awnings and front caps, like on our Talon toy hauler and several other models, has become particularly popular over the last couple years. You’ll also find more and more outdoor kitchens brightly lit thanks to LED lights.

Enhanced safety

Speaking of lighting, we’re finding ways to take advantage for the purposes of safety—one of our most important considerations. We’ve long gone above and beyond industry norms by including a third brake light, but now we’re taking it even further. We’ve added multiple signals to many of our trailers that more clearly communicate to fellow travelers as you venture down the road. We call it JaySMART. The added lights, all strategically placed and working in unison, are especially effective when in low-light situations or maneuvering in reverse.

Modern graphics

RV graphics have long had the same distinct colors and patterns, but to the delight of many RVers, newer models are experimenting with modern, more linear designs. Our lightweight series of trailers—the Hummingbird, Jay Feather and White Hawk—are a perfect example. High-gloss, full-body paint schemes, especially on motorhomes and toy haulers, are growing in popularity too.

Bold front caps

Front caps are becoming statement pieces. You’re seeing more full paint options and colored lighting accents. These things look amazing rolling down the road! Also, front caps with windshields are making for a distinct look and provide the added benefit of more natural interior light and views. We’re including these both on select trailers and on the cab-over area of our Class C Prestige models.

Carrying cargo made easy

We’re seeing exciting developments in the ways you can carry more gear. Our Hummingbird, for instance, offers the popular bike rack option that’s visible from your tow vehicle. You can debate whether or not it’s technically an exterior feature, but you’re also seeing rear garage areas with entry ramps on luxury fifth wheels like our North Point 385THWS.

Toy hauler kitchen

Probably a little too specific to technically be considered a trend, but the outside camp kitchen available on our 393T Talon model is very rarely found on a toy hauler. Watch this quick video with our Toy Hauler product director, Brent Hamood, to learn more.
