Jayco Donates New Basketball Court to Boys & Girls Club

Middlebury, Ind. – In January 2024, following nearly eight months of construction, installation was completed on a new floor for the basketball gym of the Middlebury chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs® of Elkhart County. The floor was donated by the Jayco® Family of Companies and installed by DJ Construction®. On Wednesday, February 21st a celebratory basketball game between a group of Jayco leaders and the club’s 4th - 5th graders took place.

“We are so grateful and excited for this much-needed new gym floor and so are the members,” stated Erin McNeal, Middlebury Club Director. “It has shown them how much people in our community care about them and their time at Club.”

It was a back and forth game that eventually went into overtime. Both the Middlebury Club juniors and Team Jayco played hard, but in the end, the Middlebury Club team took the victory. The final score following the one minute overtime was 37 to 35.  An energetic, vocal crowd of club members, Jayco employees and Boys & Girls Club officials were in attendance to cheer on both sides.

“Over time our floor had deteriorated, and the edges were curling, and so we just really needed a new floor and Ken came through on a tour and saw a need, Jayco stepped up and we’re very appreciative of that.” stated Tami Hicks, President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Elkhart County

Ken Walters, Jayco President and CEO commented, “A gym floor is just a small way to give thanks back to these guys for what they do. So many of our Jayco families have kids here in the club, we love their mission, we love what they do, and we love to be a part of it.”

The Jayco team was presented with framed pieces of the prior basketball court and a mounted blue basketball both signed by members of the Middlebury Boys & Girls Club.
